The Bouquet Toss - Toss Bouquet
Originally, the bouquet formed part of the wreaths and garlands worn by both the bride and groom. It was considered a symbol of happiness. Today the practice of tossing the bouquet is similar to the tradition of throwing the garter. The single woman who catches the bouquet is believed to be the next to marry.
The DJ or band will invite a group of single women (of dating age, not generally young girls) out to the center of the dance floor. The bride will turn her back to the group and toss her bouquet towards the group of single women. Often times the bride will have a smaller replica bouquet made especially for tossing so that she can keep and preserve her original bouquet. The woman that catches the bouquet will dance with the gentleman that catches the garter.
