The tradition of wedding party attire has transformed over the years, no longer are there hard and fast rules. Regardless if you are a first time bride, or have previously been married here are traditional guidelines to help you with the correct combination.
Informal Daytime Weddings:
Bride: Short afternoon dress, cocktail dress or suit
Groom: Winter = dark suit. Summer = dark trousers with white linen jacket or white trousers with navy or charcoal jacket. If hot climate = white suit, soft shirt, conservative four-in-hand tie
Bride’s Attendants: Length and degree of formality should compliment bride’s gown, matching shoes.
Groom’s Attendants: Winter = dark suit. Summer = dark trousers with white linen jacket or white trousers with navy or charcoal jacket. If hot climate = white suit, soft shirt, conservative four-in-hand tie
Mothers: Short afternoon or cocktail dresses. Have mothers discuss preferable color options to wear to harmonize with the wedding party and each other.
Fathers: Winter = dark suit. Summer = dark trousers with white linen jacket or white trousers with navy or charcoal jacket. If hot climate = white suit, soft shirt, conservative four-in-hand tie.
Women Guests: Afternoon dresses, gloves and head covering for the place of worship are optional.
Men Guests: Winter = dark suits. Summer = light trousers and dark.
