Master of Ceremonies

Master of Ceremonies

This is not necessarily a member of the wedding party. It could be your best man, or a nominated lively, possibly humorous guest. Some entertainment companies, DJ's and bands are also able to fulfill this role.

Once the guests have assembled, after the wedding service, the Master of ceremonies, or MC as he may be commonly referred too, is notified by the best man of the bridal party's readiness to join the reception.

MC introduces himself, and announces arrival of the bridal party, and introduces them.

Flower girl first, then groomsmen and bridesmaids, in couples, finally bride and groom.

The MC may introduce the officiant/priest, for a prayer before the meal.

After the main course the speeches will begin. MC calls First speech: friend of the bride’s family. Toasts the bride and groom.

Calls groom and bride to respond by thanking various guests for the wedding and reception, and then toast the bridesmaids.

Then call the best man and head bridesmaid to respond to the toast.

Next he calls the best man or other groomsmen to read faxes, telegrams etc. from the guests who couldn’t attend.

After that he calls parents of the bride to speak then parents of the groom.

Announces the cutting of the cake, and reminds guests to take photos.

He introduces the bridal waltz or first dance. After the bride and groom have danced for a while, he should invite the rest of the bridal party to dance, then the parents of bride and groom. Finally a general invitation to the reception party to dance. Desert is served and the festivities proceed.

When the bride and groom are ready to leave, the MC arranges the toss of the bouquet, and then the toss of the garter to the single men.

Finally, the MC may call for a circle, and the bride and groom say good-bye. The parents are last.
