Description:
Calla Lilly (Arum lily) -
Genus Zantedeschia: Large tropical trumpet shaped flowers in yellow, white or pink with elegant, sleek, light green stems. May last for several weeks with a change of water.
You might also see them referred to as Arum lilies or Easter lily. And one of the reasons you see them so often in those stylish decorating magazines is that they make fabulous cut flowers - they last and last and last!
Being an arum, it is not a lily; but there is no lily, however beautiful, that can be said to surpass it in elegance of form or in the purity of its ivory-white chalice, folded in curves that seem to mock the genius of the greatest of artists.
Colors: Yellow, white, green, pink
Meaning/Sentiment: Magnificent beauty, purveyor of purity
Common Use: Best used in bouquets, arrangements, centerpieces, or individually for bridesmaids to carry.
Generally Available: Spring, summer, autumn, winter |
